Julie Saffren

Julie is a retired attorney and educator living in Portland. During her legal career, she worked in nonprofit legal services organizations based in the San Francisco Bay Area and served on the board of the Pro Bono Project in San Jose, California. For fifteen years, she was adjunct faculty at Santa Clara University School of Law, teaching domestic violence and family law. She was also a writer, editor and trainer.

Julie is personally interested in a wide range of art and crafts, with particular fascination for the variety of materials that can be used, including glass, paper, fabric, tile, wood, paints, finishes and adhesives. She and her husband David are avid DIY remodelers.

She was drawn to participate on the CASS board by the number and variety of artistic and creative options CASS provides to community members of all ages. Julie plans to focus her efforts researching and applying for grant funding to extend the reach of the organization.
